Here is a list of the best cafes on the lower north shore:

1) Cafe Metropolis

A modern cafe with an affordable menu, this place has quickly become a favourite among locals with its great organic foods and wide range of drinks. Most either order pastries or something from their breakfast menu; highly recommended by regulars are the chai tea latte, corn fritters and poached eggs.

Get there early or be prepared to wait, as this is usually the case at weekends!

2) Little French Cafe

The Little French Cafe has become a staple in North Sydney – with all tables always taken by 8 AM on weekends, it’s no wonder that they’ve had to expand their business twice since opening. Serving great coffee and fresh pastries, customers are kept happy even during their long waits for food. If you haven’t been here yet, I would recommend coming here at least once!

3) The Grounds of Alexandria

From the moment you walk through the door, you’ll see that this cafe is very unique. With exposed brick walls and rustic wooden tables galore, it feels like you’re in an outdoor cafe. Their menu offers great choices for breakfast or lunch; try out their ‘Benedict’ eggs – poached eggs with ham and pesto on a croissant, topped off with hollandaise sauce! Yum yum yum!

With its wide range of mouthwatering food and drinks, I’m not sure how it took me so long to realise that the Grounds of Alexandria was an amazing cafe. Most come here for breakfast or brunch, but their lunch menu also has some great meals! The perfect spot for those who enjoy eating healthy; if you’re looking to try something new – definitely give this place a go.

4) Coffee Alchemy

This place only opens from 8 AM onwards so if you want your caffeine fix early doors come here instead of taking away from your nearest cafe. Coffee Alchemy is known for its great-tasting coffee – so if you want a cup of joe to wake you up, this is the place to be!

A very popular spot for those who work in North Sydney, Cafe Sopra offers great quality Italian food at cheap prices. Their daily specials include everything from pasta dishes and risottos to salads and paninis – perfect for those who enjoy Italian cuisine but don’t want to break the bank!
